报告题目：The Manila Clam, Ruditapes philippinarum: Worldwide and in Britain

报告人简介：John is a UK-based marine biologist with interests in benthic and “non-native” fishery species and the policy and management of inshore fisheries and marine protected areas. He has top management experience in public sector, commercial and non-profit organisations and has occupied UK government appointments in fisheries regulation and as an expert witness in fishery prosecutions. His work in Africa won a Queen’s Award. He has over 100 publications including five books and is currently President of the Estuarine and Coastal Sciences Association (ECSA).

报告摘要：This presentation will consider the worldwide spread, current distribution and value of the Manila clam along with some techniques of hatcheries, growing on and harvesting in North America and Europe. Some aspects of the introduction and ecology of the species as a non-native fishery in Britain including planktonic dispersal and aspects of population dynamics will then be examined.
